SOS QUALITY USED GOODS Terms & Conditions

Selling to us

ID Policy
 At SOS Quality Used Goods we are obliged by law to avoid unintentionally buying stolen or fraudulently obtained goods from our Customers. For us to avoid this we have outlined our ID Policy, which will be adhered to upon transactions. It consists of the following:
  •     Customers must present either a photo ID e.g. Driving Licence, Passport, Armed Forces ID, Student ID. (If customer doesn’t have a valid ID we will take  a picture of the customer and add it to our system)
  •     Customers require two utility bills or bank statements dated within the last 3 months with corresponding names and addresses
  •     All transactions are monitored by CCTV
  •     Customers must be a minimum of 18yrs of age
  •     We will take ID for any initial transaction; we will then store your details on our customer database and update them when you have a change of       circumstances e.g. move house
  •     Customers’ photographs may be taken and stored in our computer system
  •     Customers’ addresses will be taken and stored in our computer system
  •     Items where applicable will be checked for serial numbers, and if found will be recorded in our computer system along with a description of the goods
  •     All goods, where applicable will be tested
  •     All goods, where applicable will be mechanically tested
  •     Customers will be required to sign a receipt, and a copy will be provided for the customer’s own records
In all stores we endeavor to sustain a good working relationship with the police, and welcome their assistance with the operation of our business.
Testing goods
All items that are brought into us will be checked for condition and if required tested for correct working order. At times we may ask customers to leave items with us for a period of time so it can be thoroughly verified as working. This also ensures all items are functional for use before they go out for sale.
Buying from us
Pre-owned Goods
When goods are described as pre-owned or used they will be in fully functioning condition but may have slight cosmetic damage. If goods are not fully functioning or have more pronounced cosmetic damage, these facts will be stated in their description.
Warranty & Refunds Policy
 When purchasing goods from SOS Quality Used Goods Customers are permitted to presume:
  • The goods they are purchasing are of satisfactory order
  • The goods are fit for all the purposes for which they are supplied
  • The goods are safe and durable
  • That where any written description is applied to the goods, they match that description
If the above are breached, customers may be entitled to a credit note, repair or replacement within a 30 day period after purchase. In this instance customers would need to contact the store from where the item was purchased. We may offer extended warranty on certain items at each store manager’s discretion.
When delivering goods to an agreed address, if a 3rd party at the address accepts delivery of the goods on your behalf, we are not responsible if this individual fails to pass the goods on to you.
Refunds and Return of Defective Goods
2 Days Goodwill return – If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, we will happily return it to credit note within 2 days of purchase. Please note that all items must be returned in the same state/condition in which they were sold.
30 Days Statutory Refund Policy – Faulty or non working items develops a fault, which has occurred through no fault of your own will be refunded within a 30 day period upon the production of a valid receipt. Beforehand the buyer must inspect the items upon purchase and must notify the store in which you purchased the item(s), we reserve the right to either replace your item on a like for like basis or repair the item.  If your item , Provided it is returned with a receipt and we can verify the fault, we can offer a full refund to the original payment method, repair or replace the item, or exchange it for something else of equal value.  We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or we have thoroughly checked the item.
12 Month warranty on all items (except consumables) – Outside of the 30 day period, if your item develops a fault through no fault of your own, we will aim to repair/ replace the item. In the event that this isn’t possible, we will issue a refund to the original payment method at the original sales value, provided the item is returned within 6 months from the date of purchase. If your item is returned after 6 months from the date of purchase then we will refund as per the current sales value or original sales value (whichever is the lower).
All faults must be verified in order to honor the warranty.
Proof of purchase (receipt) is required for all returns.
Faults due to removable batteries not covered beyond 30 days.
The 2 Days Goodwill return does not include new items such as Screen covers and SIM Cards.
You must return to the same store that the item was purchased in.
The item must be returned to us in full working order as new or in the same condition as it was when purchased. Items may need to be tested for upto 24 hours by shop staff to ensure working order before refund can be issued.
You must return any defective or faulty item to us within 30 calendar days.
Payment Plans
All items for sale at £20 or more in our stores are available on a Payment Plan. We require a minimum 20% deposit to secure the item and our staff will then agree with customers a repayment period. All secured items will be safely stored off the shop floor until the item is paid for in full. Payment Plan periods are on agreement based on the value of the item and the customers financial capabilities, but periods are no longer than 12 weeks. Failure to adhere to the agreed payment plan may result in the customer forfeiting any prior payments for the item. This covers set up costs and market value decline for the period items are unavailable for sale. Non-payment may also result in item(s) being repossessed at the store manger’s discretion. Weekly payments can be made by cash, debit or credit card.
Buy Back Service
Customers must be over 18 and provide ID as stated in the ‘selling to us’ section above. Items will be checked for correct working order and condition before any money changes hands. Customers who are unable to buy back goods within the agreed period may forfeit their item(s). We reserve the right to refuse to provide this service at our discretion. Interest rates are 50% for buyback on items £20 or below and for items valued at £21+ repurchase rates vary from store to store but are never higher than 32.5%. Buy Back periods will be agreed on request but are limited to mainly 28 periods although we do offer 56 & 84 day agreements for items with value of £500+. SOS Quality Used Goods does offer repayment plans for more expensive items e.g. luxury watches/jewellery.
Buy Back periods can be extended by paying the interest premium before or on the last day of the agreed period before 5pm and will then run for the same period of time as set out in the original agreement. Extensions are limited to a maximum of three and after the third extension customers are responsible to repurchase the item in full.
Buy Back Reward Cards are available to all Buy Back customers and will be stamped upon production on Buy Back transactions valued at £20 or more. Each stamps value is £1 and may only be redeemed once a customer has accumulated at least 5 stamps. Cards are valid in all stores.
SOS Quality Used Goods will not be held responsible for loss or damage of items due to theft, fire, flooding or any circumstances out of our control.
 
Gold, Jewellery & Watches
SOS Quality Used Goods will purchase unwanted gold such as: old rings, broken chains and damaged bracelets as scrap. Items may be reduced in weight to allow for embedded stones or gems. We do not offer extra for embedded stones and gems and these can be removed at the customer’s request. We may offer varied prices on resalable items but this is at the store manager’s discretion. Our gold rates fluctuate daily, and may fluctuate at times between shops. We reserve the right to purchase gold and jewellery at agreed rates on any particular day. Gold will be checked for correct hallmarks and/or chemically tested to ensure the item(s) are genuine.
Watches of value are required to be checked by our expert watchmaker; therefore these items will be required to be left with us for a period of time for our expert to examine it methodically. This should take no longer than one working day to ensure validity and value. The above stipulations apply on buyback transactions as well as general purchases.
Customers’ Personal Information
We may collect and use the following information:
  • Your name and contact information (including home address, e-mail address, home telephone number and mobile phone number and work address, work e-mail address and work telephone number) and any other contact details you provide to us.
  • Your age and date of birth.
  • Names and contact telephone numbers for any alternative contacts that you provide to us.
  • Records of any correspondence with you regarding any specific enquiry you make.
We may wish to provide you with information about new products, promotions, special offers and other information which may be of interest to you. This communication may occur by post, telephone, email or text (unless you have asked us not to do so). We will obtain your consent where we are required to do so in accordance with applicable law.
We do not store credit card details nor do we share financial details with any 3rd parties.

SHIPPING FOR ONLINE BUYERS
 
We take great care packaging every item to ensure safe shipment to you. Our shipping costs are FREE upto the value of £50 however please check as we do charge for items over this value. Please note we also reserve the right to add postal charges to anywhere outside mainland UK. Free shipping is not included in Ireland. WE DO NOT SHIP OR DELIVER ON WEEKENDS OR BANK HOLIDAYS. However collection is possible on Saturdays with prior arrangement. Please contact us before clicking “BUY IT NOW” if you are from countries outside UK or plan to collect.
Items are dispatched within 2 working days since payment is cleared.

RETURN POLICY FOR ONLINE BUYERS
 
Please contact us if you would like to return purchased item.
Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.
