V-Rally 2 Championship Edition With Manuel (PS1)
V-Rally 2 Championship Edition, released on the PlayStation 1 in Europe on July 2, 1999, and in North America as Need for Speed: V-Rally 2 on November 17, 1999, offered an enhanced and expanded rally racing experience compared to its predecessor. Developed by Eden Studios and published by Infogrames in Europe and Electronic Arts in North America for the PlayStation version, this installment built upon the core mechanics with more content and features for rally enthusiasts.
The game featured a substantial roster of rally cars that competed in the 1999 World Rally Championship season, with approximately 26 cars in the Championship Edition. Players could test their driving skills across over 80 original tracks representing rallies from the 1999 season, excluding Greece and Safari. V-Rally 2 offered various game modes, including a Time Trial mode for setting the fastest laps, an Arcade mode for quick races, the V-Rally Trophy where players competed against three AI opponents across multiple rallies, and a Championship mode that closely followed the structure of real-world rallying with different stages. 1 Weather conditions such as snow, rain, and different times of day (daytime, sunset, and night) added to the challenge. A notable inclusion was a track editor, allowing players to design their own custom rally stages. The PlayStation version supported up to four players via split-screen and was compatible with the DualShock analog controllers as well as the neGcon and Jogcon racing wheels.
