Naruto Storm Revolution (PS3)
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution for the PlayStation 3 is a fighting game developed by CyberConnect2 that serves as a spin-off and a “filler” title in the series, bridging the gap between Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. The game shifts focus from the main storyline to new, original content, including a new character, Mecha-Naruto, designed by series creator Masashi Kishimoto. The primary single-player mode is the Ninja World Tournament, a non-canon tournament where players compete against three other CPU opponents in a chaotic, four-player battle royale-style match where the goal is to collect the most orbs dropped by opponents.
In addition to the tournament, the game features a new “Ninja Escapades” mode, which provides three new, original animated stories penned by Kishimoto, focusing on the formation of the Akatsuki, the story of Shisui Uchiha, and a backstory for Kushina Uzumaki. While this title lacks a traditional story mode that follows the canon anime and manga, it introduces several new gameplay mechanics. These include a revamped fighting system with new team types (Ultimate Jutsu, Awakening, and Drive), which force players to specialize their team's abilities, as well as the new “Guard Break” and “Counterattack” mechanics that add new layers of strategy to the combat. The game also boasts a massive roster of over 100 characters.
